Core Values

MISSION

We believe that every follower of Jesus lives sent by Jesus to go into the whole world living and declaring the Good News of Jesus. We believe through Jesus, there is healing in our relationship with God, each other, ourselves, and creation.

COMMUNITY

We live and grow together in Christian Community. What unites us is Jesus and our daily seeking to follow him. As a community, we seek to encourage one another, knowing that life can be messy and does not always make sense.

GENEROSITY

We are a community that seeks to be generous in love, grace, forgiveness, hospitality, and our resources. We know that everything we have in life comes from God as gifts to us to manage according to his will.

Fun

We laugh and play together. We know that humanity was created by God to enjoy him and to enjoy the gift of life he has given to us.

We are Wesleyan

Wesleyans believe in one God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the Savior of all who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life.

We believe that those who are made new in Christ are called to be holy in character and conduct and can only live this way by being filled with the Lord’s Spirit. We believe in the Bible and its sufficiency to establish our faith and conduct. We believe God wills for people everywhere to know Him and be made new in Christ. We believe that the purpose of the Church is to worship God in spirit and in truth, and to reach a lost and fallen world with the gospel of Jesus Christ through its worship, witness, and loving deeds.

Our History

Started in 1958, we have been part of the Galesburg community for over seventy years. Much has changed in our church and community since we first met in an old building on Farnham Street originally built in prohibition days and reportedly used as a stopping point in a bootlegging operation. That first building had undergone a series of changes before it became a church, including use as a restaurant, service station, laundry, and junkyard. The transformation of this community eyesore into an attractive building was symbolic of the transforming ministry the Church was to have in the lives of individuals. Today we continue to live out our original mission to bring Hope to life through our service in our community.
